I was just beginning to set up media streaming line came across this issue. The only thing that was done was regular installations of the windows updates Method 1: You may check using the below provided steps for the windows media player network sharing service status. Tim De Baets. In reply to ADavidM70's post on March 9, If Windows says that a program has stopped working, then that actually means that the program has crashed.
Please post the technical details of the crash here. Open the Start menu, type event in the Search box, and click on Event Viewer in the list of programs. I see a halfway rhetorical question about the success of the automatic solution finder thing. That's it. The solution has been found OS X oooooohhhhhhhh i can feel the heat a'heading my way ;-.
I just googled "when windows claims it's looking for a solution to a problem, does it ever find a solution? I'm very impressed Giant Bomb. Very impressed. My laptop has an issue where its wireless adapter turns itself off. I have to restart before it works, but when I ask Windows to diagnose and repair, it'll come up with the option to turn it back on.
Does that count? I have never ever had that stupid "checking for solutions" dialog box come up with anything. Not just anything useful, but anything at all. Nowadays I just click cancel, one more step involved in ending a frozen program.
Although I'll admit that a little window popping up informing you that something, somewhere is trying to help you out Please Log In to post. Bring back the main forum list. Use your keyboard! User has been fine for weeks - no hardware of software changes except Windows Updates. Tried in all USB ports Plug in - windows announces found new hardware, tries to install drivers then fails with "Windows found software for your device but encountered an error installing Thinking this was just the camera drivers - I researched and downloaded new drivers from camera manufacturers sites Fuji and Canon.
Same effect. Restore point does not help either. After much trawling I found reference to a permisions issue and stale driver cache data. This is using an administrator account - not user with admin permissions? I'm willing to try anything at this time I deleted the infcache. Rebooted Takes a little longer to boot as I take it it's rebuilding the driver cache then a very short hurrah!!!
I can now use usb memory card and pen drives - no issue Plug in a camera or printer It should not be vendor specific, the other field machine that works is using Microsoft drivers for these devices.
I even copied the drivers from one machine to the other - repeated everything above Same message and this time I've lost all the USB again.
Restore point to before Win Update gets me USB back again although I still have no cameras - so theres an update issue as well. If anyone has experienced manu of you have and fixed still to find one this issue please let me know how as soon as possible.
Thanks for this. The solution worked for my flash drives. And the problem was getting to be a major headache. I tried this, but it said the driver wasn't found in that folder either. I've done an online diagnostics from the Dell site and installed the latest updates it recommended, but this item still keeps popping up.
Please help. I thought it was over in my lap, but hardly searching for the solution. When I read your answer, without hope I was trying but exactly solved my issue. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. USB composite device Access is denied. I just wanted to post what worked for me. I had trouble installing my Canon scanner driver and would get the failure to update message.
I disabled web root and went to update the driver and the scanner was detected successfully. So it could be your antivirus. I know I am replying to an old thread - but I have the answer and resolved this error , and since this message comes up first in search results, and part of my answer came from this thread, I wanted to help someone else as this took an extra 12 hours and a lot of technical insight to resolve. See below for detailed explanation that others ask for above.
My original issue was that iTunes didnt reinstall. This may partly have been due to me deleting old install version folders. Research led me to completely uninstall apple products and reinstall per their instruction and fixed the issue with iTunes. Then I had an intel chipset issue Manual applications didn't work, even though a generic device showed in control panel - device manager with a yellow!
Per above blog answer - I tried to remove and reinstall my USB controller or update the drivers I have an Alienware M15 laptop - a few years old. To find this I had to look at the Support - Downloads and Drivers - browse for drivers and somewhere found an option to look for older no longer supported drivers.
This turned out to be an error for two reasons. To access the proper windows system folders - you have to be the TrustedInstaller service - not just in the administrator group To become actual administrator on your own laptop, Open a command window "run CMD. This creates a local PC Administrator account with no password.
Coincidentally it has proper permissions to windows directories for installing drivers. Log in as this user, go to device manager and update the USB hub and any other drivers. This in my case enabled all my USB 2. Good luck! You may see something like:. Driver Management concluded the process to install driver fix I just copied them in from the driver distribution.
Maybe deleting the XXX folder and reinstalling the driver software would put everything back. You can look at that file with notepad. Those are the files it's trying to access and they weren't there. I have the same issue above. I tried all the options above and in other related threads but of no use. It is really frustrating. Whatever I do, I still get "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it The system cannot find the file specified".
I don't know why maybe because I run Tweaking. I was trying to install my k i7 cpu graphics driver. I read above comments and had no idea what he meant. I looked into that folder but no idea what he meant by it.
You Are Great I want to thank you for solve my problem. I spent a Couple of week with sadness. Finally i Found a solution From you. This time i feel like awsome. You my friend are a bloody genius!! I have been searching the internet for weeks trying to find a solution to this problem?
My computer has had no sound since installing windows 10, neither Microsoft or Hewlit Packard have had a fix for this issue. Run cmd and then run msconfig and choose startup selection as Normal startup and then restart your PC.
Your solution worked great We could not get our studio cameras running on a computer that we rebuilt USB for months. Klaus and Dav you guys got us back up and running!! It appears, for whatever reason, between Klaus's answer and also Dav's, the biggest problem is that for whatever reason, "Trustedinstaller" is probably not running on our systems!!
That is the biggest case in our problem. Not sure how to "enable it" for the new devices yet, but that seems to be the main answer, is "trustedinstaller"!!
