The LEADS Framework will inform the course delivery and learners will be provided with a solid understanding of health leadership application of performance measurement, performance management and governance issues that emerging leaders need to know and apply.

The course will examine current practices and protocols, standards of evidence, sources of data, and the application of new knowledge to practice in order to foster change through health sector initiatives and projects.
The course will include reference to the underlying ethics of decision making evidence. Critical thinking and analysis activities will be applied throughout the course and the LEADS Framework will inform the course delivery.
This online course will provide comprehensive overview of project management and leadership for the health sector. The course will identify different standards of project management practices and their application and adoption in health sector projects. Leadership components of project management are emphasized, with particular attention to engagement of project sponsors, project risk management, and interaction with critical stakeholders.
This integrated project course is an opportunity for the emerging leader to synthesise and apply learning gained throughout their studies to a practical problem or opportunity in their workplace and while reflecting on their learning. An evidence informed process will be used to conduct a systematic review of the major issues and best practices, develop appropriate alternatives and present a fully justified recommendation for solving the problem or advancing opportunity.
The emerging leader is to consult with their Program Head and their employer or an external organization of their choosing to identify a project plan that meets the learning objectives. Emerging leaders will contribute to knowledge translation by disseminating findings and communicating solutions to an appropriate audience in a professional context. The aim of the Advanced Certificate in Health Leadership Program is to provide emerging leaders with a foundation for future growth in healthcare leadership. At BCIT, we define an emerging health leader as an early-career health professional who is passionate and committed to pursuing a career in health leadership. The goal of the advanced certificate is to produce health care graduates who are acquainted with health care leadership issues and who are able to:.
Participants will be required to complete the program over a two year period. The first year focuses on the fundamentals of health leadership, management of resources, sustainability, leading people, and the Canadian health system. At the end of the first year, accomplishments are recognized and celebrated, and participants are awarded a Statement of Completion. In the second year, participants apply their learning to addresses performance management, use of evidence in health leadership decision-making, and project leadership.
In the final capstone course, participants complete an Integrative Project in their workplace with the support of an organizational sponsor and a BCIT facilitator. The courses consist of credits at the upper Bachelor-degree level, consistent with BCIT standards. In addition, by incorporating practical and applied learning approaches that BCIT is known for, the participants and their organizations benefit from day one of the program, by tapping into skills and knowledge that can be applied immediately to the workplace.
